Key Information:

  • Best For: Residential aged care and day care - including anyone who is comfortable being in an audience setting.

  • Duration: Approximately 45 minutes of performance, followed by the individual puppet visits and chat - allow for around one hour. I only do one performance per day, so my time with you is flexible.

  • Space Needs: A comfortable lounge or activity room. I easily adapt to your existing seating layout. A quiet space is preferred for your resident's full enjoyment of my show. A white board, small table and access to a powerpoint.

  • Compliance: I am fully compliant with all aged care entry requirements;

  • Third Party Insured: Current police check, up-to-date vaccinations (Flu/COVID-19), and RAT testing upon request. Happy to do your induction program as required.

I run a monthly program of story/puppet performances designed especially for persons in aged care. You can choose a regular monthly visit, or a series of visits to suit your calendar. My extensive repertoire means that no story is repeated within a two year rotation.

My live performances are deeply interactive, gentle, and designed to foster meaningful social connection.

Rather than performing at an audience, I actively engage with your residents, share stories, and use my handcrafted puppets to foster connection through joy, laughter, and conversation.

Sensory & Inclusive: During the stories, I bring my puppets into the audience so that your residents can see and touch them close up. This tactile, sensory  experience is wonderful for everyone; and particularly those who are blind or vision-impaired.
I often have gentle one to one conversations during these times.

Respectful & Grounded: I deliberately get down to your residents' eye level. I never stand over anyone in a wheelchair or armchair, to ensure that people feel comfortable and respected.

Responsive Storytelling: If a resident makes a comment during the show, I embrace it and respond. The performance is a warm, living conversation, not a rigid script. I always show my audiences appreciation and gratitude for them inviting me into their home.

Safety first: The well-being of your residents is my absolute priority. Whilst I am quick to pause a show if someone is distressed, I also rely on your facility’s care and lifestyle staff to be present throughout the performance, to manage any immediate care or medical needs.

Post-Show "Meet & Greet" Conversation.
The magic doesn't end when the story finishes. At the conclusion of the performance, I bring the puppets around for a longer, individual visit with residents. You are welcome to build this interaction into my visit in a way that suits your residents.
I am always happy to share a cuppa and have an informal chat.
As a peer in my 60s, I enjoy the opportunity to listen to and connect with my audience over common histories and early life experiences. Using gentle, open-ended questions, I invite residents to share  what they are thinking and feeling. I facilitate gentle respectful conversation and relate the performance back to their own rich lives and memories.
